Clicking on the View/Auto locate record menu item toggles between the two ways in which the Localize and Select by Point selecting features behave combined with the open Data panel. If the View/Auto locate record menu item is checked then a selection event automatically makes a jump on the attribute table in the Data panel to the record of the recently selected object. Otherwise, a selecting event does not affect the position on the Data panel list.

To activate/deactivate the Auto locate record feature, click on the View/Auto locate record menu item.

To find the attribute record of a shape

1. Check, if the Auto locate record feature is active. If not, make it active.
2. Activate (highlight) the layer which contains the desired shape. Do this by clicking on its name in the Legend.
3. Click on the Layer/Show attributes table menu item - this invokes the Data panel with the attribute table of the active layer.
4. Use the Localize or the Select by Point feature to select the desired shape - the corresponding attribute record will be automatically shown in the Data panel.
