Clicking on the Data/Set column value menu item provides the means for setting the same value of a chosen attribute for all shapes belonging to a vector layer.

To set the same value of a specific attirbute for all shapes in a vector layer

1. Activate (highlight) the desired layer. Do this by clicking on its name in the Legend.
2. Click on the Layer/Show attributes table menu item - this invokes the Data panel with the attribute table of the active layer.
3. Click on the Shape/Set column value menu item - this invokes the Set column value dialog box.
4. Within the Set column value dialog box, select the attribute from the Fields list.
5. Set value for the selected attribute in the Value field.
6. [OPTIONAL] If the change should be applied only to the selected shapes check the Selected only option.
7. Click on the OK button.

• To add a new attribute to a vector layer, use the Restructure feature.
