Clicking on the Shape/Edit mode menu item displays the list of modes for adding new vertices to shapes of the line or polygon type. The edit mode defines the way in which new line or outline segments are created along with new vertices. The following features are affected by the edit mode: Edit shape, Line, Closed line, Polygon. There are two edit modes:

• Nearest point,
• After active point.
