Clicking on the File/North Arrow menu item provides the means for setting the appearance of the North Arrow.

To change the appearance of the North Arrow

1. Click on the File/North Arrow menu item - this invokes the North Arrow dialog box.
2. Within the North Arrow dialog box: a) select a predefined appearance by clicking on the Predefined spin box arrows, or b) select an image file that is to indicate the direction of north by clicking on the Path button, entering the directory containing the file and double-clicking on it.
3. [OPTIONAL] If the selected appearance should become default for any newly created map project then check the Set as application default checkbox.
4. Click on the OK button.

• There are 12 predefined north arrow images numbered from 0 to 11.
